Topics covered will include an introduction to relativity, wave theory and physical optics; thermal and electrical properties of materials; x-rays and their applications; applied mechanics and hydrodynamics and the properties of real gases, a study of electrical conduction in the gaseous, liquid and solid states.

Assessment includes progressive assessment (70%) and laboratory work (30%).

Prerequisite(s): GAS1383 or permission of the Unit Adviser.
